Journal Rules

Caeleste is an original fantasy game. As such, characters should be drawn from a player's own imagination and be based on the world created for Caeleste. Characters from television shows, books and movies are not permitted in Caeleste.

Caeleste has no affiliate communities outside of Vilis and Adusta. All role play should be kept within Caeleste or Adusta only. Vilis should be used for OOC purposes only. Character journals should be used for posting to these communities only and should not include separate role play.

An established player may have up to four character journals at one time. Any more than four will be at the moderators' discretion. Players active for less than 6 months may have up to two character journals.

Duplicating the face chosen for another character is not allowed. Once the PB for a character has been chosen, it cannot be changed.

Role Play Rules

Every character must have interaction with another character at least once a month. Interaction includes participating in a Caleste or Adusta thread with another player's character. After one month of no interaction, a notification e-mail will be sent advising that interaction will be required within five days of the notice in order to maintain the character in Caeleste. If no interaction is seen within five days, the character will be removed from the game.

If you are removed from the game, the moderators may write your character(s) out of the game.

Crossing the OOC/IC line is reason for mod action, up to and including banning from the game. Just don't do it.

Common sense is paramount. Character actions bring about character consequenses, sometimes death.

Place a disclaimer on any post containing extremely graphic sexual/violent content. Posts without this disclaimer will be deleted after 24 hours.

Before initiating a plot that will significantly affect the community as a whole, a player must obtain permission from the moderators.

Any action that affects a character you do not control (or the property of a character you do not control) must be cleared with the player first. Posts that are in violation of this rule will be deleted at the affected player's request.

Tag all Caeleste/Adusta entries in the subject line with 'narrative', 'open', or a list of the participating characters previously agreed on.

Fight Rules

Combat in Caeleste is turn-based. You declare your attack, and your opponent declares the result.

Your character is not required to scream out the name of their attack, but make sure you describe the attack and its potential effects clearly so that your opponent is informed.

There is no rule regarding character death. If you pick a fight with the wrong person, your character will probably die.

Having a character who never takes a single hit in a fight may leave you somewhat unpopular. Godmoding is right out.

World Additions Rules

Any location should first be approved before used in RP. A list of approved locations is here and here. [The Rule Of Thumb is this: For places not already documented, Quick-Note them if you only want to mention them, and create profiles/map locations for them if you want to play in them!]

If planning on adding a country or a race to the game, please email your ideas with the mods before filling out the proper forms.

Approved additions will become a permanent fixture of Caeleste and will be free for all players to use.

Rulers of countries/cities can only be NPCed by their creators or the moderators.

Once the new location or race is approved and placed in play, any changes or additions are subject to moderator approval.

The creator of a land or race will always be consulted before additions or changes are made.

Additions to approved places are allowed. All additions must be submitted for consideration by posting them in the comments of the post. These comments are screened.

Moderator Guidelines

Requests for moderator assistance should be e-mailed directly to caeleste.mods (at) gmail (dot) com and will be answered promptly.

Moderators reserve the right to update the rules if necessary. Any updates to the content of these rules will be announced in Vilis.

By participating in this community, a player agrees to abide by the rules of it. Failure to do so will result in a warning. Continued failure may result in a permanent ban on all characters held by that player.

Moderators reserve the right to make reasonable exceptions to the above-listed rules, if circumstances warrant it.
